We don't collect your data. We can't.
Kalkalok is designed to keep your finances on your device. The app does not have user accounts of its own, does not use analytics, and does not send your data to any server we operate.
What Kalkalok stores
Transactions, accounts, cards, tags, saved filters, and any other information you enter are stored locally on your iPhone using SwiftData. This data lives in the app's private storage container and is included in your iCloud device backup if you have iOS device backups enabled — that backup is between you and Apple.
Optional iCloud sync & sharing
iCloud sync is off by default. If you turn it on in Settings, Kalkalok mirrors your data through Apple's CloudKit into your own iCloud account so it appears on your other devices signed in to the same Apple ID. You can also invite a household member through CloudKit sharing to collaborate on a shared store. We never see this data — it moves directly between your devices and Apple's iCloud servers, governed by Apple's privacy policy. Turning sync off stops new changes from leaving the device.
Backup & restore
You can export the entire store as a JSON file at any time and import it back later or on a new device. Where that file lives — Files, AirDrop, your own cloud — is up to you; Kalkalok only writes the file you ask for.
What Kalkalok does not do
- No Kalkalok account or sign-in. iCloud sync uses your own Apple ID.
- No telemetry, crash reporting, or analytics SDKs.
- No third-party advertising or tracking.
- No connection to bank or financial APIs.
- No data sold or shared, because we never receive any.
Permissions
Kalkalok only requests iOS permissions when you actively use a feature that needs them (for example, to import a JSON snapshot from Files or to enable iCloud sync). Granted permissions are used solely for that feature and are not recorded or transmitted.
Notifications, when allowed, are scheduled on your device by iOS to remind you of recurring transactions and credit-card settlement due dates. They are not sent from any server we operate.
Children's privacy
Kalkalok is suitable for general audiences. Because the app does not collect personal information, it does not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If the app's behavior changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and note the date below. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
