Need a hand?

Kalkalok is built and supported by one person. Email hello@lok.tech with a short description of what's wrong or what you're trying to do, and you'll get a real reply.

What to include in a bug report

  • What you expected vs. what actually happened.
  • Steps to reproduce, if you can.
  • The version of Kalkalok (Settings → About).
  • Your iOS version and device model.
  • A screenshot or short screen recording, if helpful.

Where is my data stored?

On your device, in a private SwiftData database. If you turn on iCloud sync from Settings, your data is also stored in your own iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. Nothing ever reaches a server we operate. See the Privacy Policy for details.

How do I turn on iCloud sync?

Open Settings → iCloud Sync. Toggling it on requires an app restart so Kalkalok can re-open its database with iCloud mirroring enabled. Once on, your data syncs across devices signed in to the same Apple ID.

Can I share an account with my partner?

Yes, once iCloud sync is on. Open Settings, tap the account you want to share, then tap "Share with…". This uses Apple's standard CloudKit sharing flow. Sharing is per-account — your other accounts stay private to you.

Why doesn't Kalkalok convert between currencies?

Each account has its own currency. Kalkalok shows balances and insights split per currency rather than converting with a guessed exchange rate that would only ever be approximate. Transfers between accounts must use the same currency.

Can I import my bank statement?

Not yet. Kalkalok is intentionally not a bank-link app. You can record transactions manually, set up a recurring rule for predictable income and expenses, or import a JSON snapshot you've previously exported from Kalkalok.

How do I back up or move my data?

Settings → Export saves the entire store to a JSON file you choose where to keep — Files, AirDrop, or your own cloud. On a new device, install Kalkalok and use Settings → Import to restore from that file.

How do I delete all my data?

Delete the app from your device. If iCloud sync was enabled, you can also delete the iCloud copy from iCloud.com → Settings → Manage Storage → Kalkalok.
